Board of Directors

Terry Reis, Chairman Goodwill CFO

 Terry Reis brings a wealth of financial and operational expertise to the board, drawing on a diverse career that spans real estate, finance, and nonprofit leadership. He currently serves as Vice President of Finance and IT for Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers (GoodwillSR), a role he assumed after serving the organization for five years in key volunteer leadership positions including treasurer, audit chair, and board chair.

Terry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA from Valdosta State University. His professional journey includes leadership roles at Synovus Financial Corporation as a Commercial Risk Manager and at Textron Corporation, where he began his career as a cost accountant and advanced to Purchasing Director.

With over two decades of experience in real estate management and development, Terry has overseen financial reporting, investor relations, and compliance for large-scale residential portfolios across multiple states. His real estate career included leadership positions with Dewar Properties in Valdosta and the Wynnton Group in Columbus, GA, as well as his own development partnership.

A strong advocate for community service, Terry has also served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity and the TKE Board of Trustees. He brings strategic insight, fiscal discipline, and a deep commitment to mission-driven work to the Stewart Community Home board. Terry lives in Columbus, GA with his wife, Lynn, and their daughter, Annslee.

Todd Nielsen, Treasurer

 Todd brings over 35 years of hands-on experience in HVAC, facility maintenance, construction, and remodeling to his role as a board member. A former U.S. Army Infantry Soldier, he currently serves as Director of Facilities and Special Projects at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, where he oversees large-scale operational and infrastructure initiatives.

Deeply rooted in the Columbus, GA community, Todd is an active member of City Scape Church and is committed to service both professionally and personally. He and his wife of 32 years have two grown children. In his free time, Todd enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, bicycling, and working on his land—interests that reflect his passion for the outdoors and practical problem-solving.

With a strong background in leadership and operations, Todd is proud to contribute his skills and dedication to the mission of Stewart Community Home.

Kim Ambrester, Secretary

 Kim Ambrester is the owner of Meetings That Move, a company specializing in transportation logistics for corporate meetings and events. A longtime resident of Pine Mountain, Kim has been a dedicated member of the Board of Directors for many years, bringing valuable insight and experience to the organization. 

Tiffany Patten

Tiffany Beach Patten is a life-long resident of Columbus, Georgia. Her career at Aflac has spanned the course of 23 years, where she’s currently the Senior Manager of Claims Compliance. Outside the office, Tiffany spends most of her time with her husband, Ben, bonus 19-year-old son Trey, and six-year-old son Asa. 

Having been taught the value of serving at an early age by her great grandmother, Mandy Chappell, Tiffany would frequently accompany her to volunteer with many local organizations. Tiffany credits this quiet example for instilling in her the drive to serve others, Tiffany’s love for her community and passion for service impelled her to begin volunteering with the Stewart Home. Believing steadfast in the organization’s mission, Tiffany now proudly serves on the board ensuring current and future residents receive the care and support they need.

Denise Fortson

 Denise Fortson is a longtime board member and dedicated supporter of Stewart Community Home. Her enduring commitment to the organization is reflected in the many ways she gives her time and energy, including serving on the SCH Luncheon Committee and actively contributing to fundraising and outreach efforts.

Known for her passion for community service and steadfast support of Stewart Community Home’s mission, Denise plays a vital role in advancing the organization’s work and impact. Her leadership and dedication continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those served by SCH.

John Stam

 John Stam is a seasoned financial executive with over 20 years of experience in financial management, accounting operations, budgeting, cost control, and strategic planning. He currently serves as Director of Finance and Administration at Ann’s Place, a cancer wellness organization, where he oversees all financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions, and reports regularly to the Board of Directors.

John's career spans leadership roles in both nonprofit and for-profit sectors, including Harlem Stage Performing Arts Center, Somoroff Studios, and Go Film. His expertise lies in developing financial controls, optimizing operations, and enhancing organizational sustainability through effective budgeting and forecasting. Known for his strategic insight and strong analytical skills, John has successfully reversed deficits, negotiated favorable financing, and implemented job-costing systems that improved operational efficiency.

A graduate of Lehman College with a degree in Hospital Administration and Accounting, John brings a deep understanding of GAAP principles and a collaborative approach to fiscal leadership. His commitment to sound financial stewardship and organizational mission makes him a valuable asset to the board. 

Tracy Walker

Tracy is a Human Resource professional with forty years in the industry. Tracy has worked on a global level providing strategic HR support and direction. Each company has aligned with her passion for people, strong company culture and the ability to give back to the community through volunteerism and board participation. Past companies include Tom’s Foods, TSYS and currently, Heckler & Koch. As a local to the Columbus area and with the relationships built

throughout her career within the city, Tracy has leveraged those

connections to provide value to a number of nonprofits in the area by

serving on the local SHRM board, Partners in Education, Feeding the

Valley, The Family Center and the Personnel Review Committee for

Columbus Consolidated Government.

Tracy will prove to be a valuable HR asset to both the Stewart Home

Board and to the Stewart Home Leadership Team.

Trent Swinehart

 Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Trent attended St. Luke for middle school and graduated from Columbus High School in 2018. He went on to earn his B.B.A. in Finance, graduating magna cum laude from the University of Georgia in 2022. He is currently completing his J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he will graduate with honors in 2025.

After taking the bar exam, he will begin a two-year federal clerkship with the Honorable Clay D. Land in August of 2025. He recently moved back to Columbus with his new wife Gigi, where they serve as volunteer Young Life leaders at Columbus High School. They both attend St. Andrews Church. He is the son of Steven and Buffy Swinehart and has one brother, James, who is a Sophomore at Princeton University.

Tiffany Hoffman

 With over 40 years of experience volunteering with underserved communities, Tiffany brings a deep commitment to service and a wealth of nonprofit expertise to the Stewart Community Home. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration with a focus on nonprofit leadership at Kent State University and is set to graduate later this year.

Her background includes more than two decades of successful grant writing and fundraising for organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, 4-H, and the National Infantry Museum, where she currently serves as Director of Education and Volunteer Services. A passionate advocate for strategic planning, marketing, and social media, Tiffany values collaborative leadership and believes in creating inclusive environments where all voices are heard. She is inspired by the mission of Stewart Community Home and is honored to serve as a board member
