Thank you

Thank you for helping to build the Stewart Community Home into a place of hope and opportunity for those in need.

The Stewart Community Home is truly a community resource

The Stewart Community is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
(Tax ID #: 58-1287158)

We could not operate without those who share their time and money so that the neediest among us have a place of hope.

Just to give you an idea of the kind of impact your donations make…

  • $100 will provide several residents with fresh linens on a regular basis and hygiene/toiletry items for 1 year.
  • $150 will provide shoes for several residents.
  • $300 will provide much needed clothing items for several residents, including winter coats.
  • $500 will provide transportation for education, medical appointments, and employment.
  • $1000 covers over 1/2 of the total cost of caring for a resident for 1 month.

Financial Support

Donations may be made online.

Or mail your donation to:
Stewart Community Home
P.O. Box 4279
Columbus, GA 31914

In the last 5 years our discharged residents have transitioned to independent safe living over 90% of the time. In the past 5 years, 5 residents have received their GED, 4 residents have received vocational/trade certificates, 1 has received a college diploma and another 10 have enrolled in some level of college or technical school. We continue to provide services to at least 40 former residents per year so that they maintain their level of independence and do not return to homelessness.

Bequests

Giving through your will, once loved ones have been taken care of, is one of the easiest ways to give a gift to the Stewart Community Home.

The wording is simple and you can even designate which specific program or need you would like your gift to support.

“I give. devise and bequeath, to the Stewart Community Home a Georgia 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, [% of assets or specific dollar amount] for the benefit of [specific program or general operating support].”

In addition, naming the Stewart Community Home as a beneficiary of a 401(k) plan, an IRA, a pension plan, or an insurance policy is just as easy. Designating a small percentage of your assets can help ensure that the Stewart Community Home will always be here for people who need help getting back on their feet.

For more information, please contact Kara VinZant, Executive Director, at (706) 327-2707, ext 7030.

Donate Goods

The Stewart Community Home is always in need of several items on an ongoing basis. Additionally, from time to time, we are in need of specific items. Listed below are both categories. And please always remember: these items can be new or used, they are tax deductible, greatly appreciated, and if we have an abundance of any particular item, we share them with other non-profit agencies in the area.

The best time to drop off donations is M-F 8am to 5pm. This way, someone will be at the front desk to accept your generosity and write you a receipt. All visitors should enter the entrance in the parking lot where the green awning is located.
